Sydney - Like London... Only Better!

I'll be honest, I didn't think I'd like Sydney, being a city of over 5 million people and one of Australia's main tourist destinations. But I ended up loving it, especially the quieter, greener corners. It does look and feel a lot like London, only less crowded, cheaper and with much nicer weather. I ended up staying twice as long as originally planned. Here are some (okay, a LOT of) impressions from the city in general...

Here are some of the parts of town I liked especially. This is Glebe: very green and with lots of bookshops...

Surry Hills has lots of charming little Victorian houses. Looks like a great place to live...

But my favourite was Newtown with its vintage shops and vegan restaurants. It looks and feels a lot like Camden Town...

Sydney is very green. My favourite park was Hyde Park...

There was also the Botanic Garden near the harbour...

Speaking of the harbour, of course I went to see Harbour Bridge and the Opera House...

And now for some culture! I loved the Art Gallery so much that I went twice...

The Cathedral is quite impressive for something built in the 1800s...

I loved hanging out at the University grounds and wandering through the Archaelogical Museum there...

The hostel itself was very conveniently situated - right next to central train station...

Of course there were LOADS of vegan food options...
