Canberra - The Quietest of Capitals

I knew Canberra wasn't a big city, but it was pretty much desterted on a Saturday afternoon when I arrived. The next day, my room mate and I managed to see all the sights in one single day!

First, though, some impressions from the hostel and the city in general. Including the War Memorial and the Sunday Market where we had lunch...

First we went up to Telstra Tower to get a good view over the area...

Then we went to the Old Parliament, which was actively used from 1912 to 1988. They left everything as it was when moving into the new building...

Then we went to the New Parliament, which was a lot less interesting... Except for the flag pole, which I am convinced is secretly a giant space laser!

Next was the National Museum, wich sadly was a bit underwhelming...

At least the National Gallery had an exhibition on Maori tattoos...

Of course there was food, too... (Sadly only remembered to take a picture of my doughnut before having the last bite. It was vegan, whole grain and had rosehip jam in it!
